We understand that every organization is at a different place in its cybersecurity journey. That’s why Herd was made to be flexible and help security teams shape a program around what their users need, instead of making their users comply with what the platform provides, which happens far too often in security. 

Why Herd?

Over the last several months, we have spoken to over 200+ security practitioners. During our conversations, we learned quickly that the pains of human risk were extremely high, with no clear solution on how to tackle the issue. The most common solution we found was entrusting security awareness training as the cornerstone of their defense. 

As we continued to watch people struggle with cybersecurity, we knew there must be a better way: A way to not only train users with the proper knowledge but also make them actively engage in cybersecurity. This was confirmed through our research; many security leaders said that even a 20% increase in user security participation would lead to a 50% reduction in human cyber risk.

When the company was founded, we saw two major shifts happening due to the ever-growing AI landscape. Rather than spending months to develop a single training for a small group of users, AI allows teams to create programs and trainings in minutes at the scale of an entire enterprise. 

What Makes Us Different? 

One of our advisors told me, “In a crowded space, you have to be 100x better. People will hold you to a higher standard.” We have taken this to heart since we wrote our very first line of code. 

As a key difference, we hyper-personalize lessons and curate them to different learning styles. Everyone learns differently, and many platforms in other sectors have shifted to adapt. Learning a new language is easy with Duolingo or a DIY project on YouTube. But with cyber, we saw vastly slower adoption.
